Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in the Waldorf School of Orange County. We realize that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a parent makes in shaping a child's life and we are here to assist you in any way we can.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten

The application process for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten begins with a mandatory Early Childhood Orientation Evening - please go to our Events Calendar to see specific dates for these events.

Applications may be completed at any time throughout the year, but those received prior to the application deadline will receive priority. If there are spaces remaining following this first round of applicants, additional applicants will be considered.

Participation in our Playgroup program is beneficial, but is not a requirement for consideration to Pre-Kindergarten.

  1. Complete WSOC application online - this is an opportunity for us to learn about you and your child.
  2. Application Fee of $100.00
  3. If a class is full, your application will be placed on file to be contacted when a space becomes available. A new application must be filled out for each academic year.
  4. If there is space available in the class, the application will be forwarded to the Early Childhood Faculty for discussion and decision based upon class size and make-up.
  5. If agreed, the applicant and parents are invited to a Family Interview with the two class teachers.
  6. If it is agreed that it would be beneficial, the student may be invited to visit the class for one or more days.
  7. A decision will be sent in writing to the applicant.
  8. If an offer has been made, a student may not begin class until Registration has been completed.

Grades 1 - 8

Applications for the grades may be submitted at any time during the year. Students are considered and accepted year round pending space availability.

  2. Application Fee of $100.00
  3. If a class is full, your application will be placed on file to be contacted when a space becomes available. A new application must be filled out for each academic year.
  4. If there is space available in the class, the application(s) will be forwarded to the College of Teachers for discussion and decision. The College of Teachers meets one evening every week. If the agenda allows, an applicant will be considered the week the application is received. If the meeting agenda is full, the application will be considered the following week.
  5. If agreed, the applicant and parents are invited to a Family Interview with the class teacher, a second faculty member and the Director of Admissions. An Assessment of the student will be completed at this time by our Resource Teacher, Deborah Waring.
  6. If agreed, the student(s) will be invited for a Class Visit — (3 to 5 days).
  7. Following the visit, the class teacher, Admissions Director and parents will discuss the result.
  8. If an offer has been made, a student may begin class as soon as Registration has been completed.

High School

Applications for the high school may be submitted at any time during the year. Students are considered and accepted year round pending space availability.

  1. Complete Parent and Student Questionnaires
  2. Complete Student Self-Portrait
  3. Upload Photograph of the Student
  4. Upload copies of any Assessments or Testing
  5. Parent distributes Teacher Evaluations to Math, English, Counselor or Class Teachers - all three are required. Please remind the teachers to return the forms prior to the deadline.
  6. If you are requesting entrance mid-year, please include a Recent Progress Report from your child's current teacher(s)
  7. Parent distributes Transcript Release Form to Current School. It is the parent's responsibility to follow up with the school to be certain this is provided to WSOC.
    • If entering Grade 9: Take the Aspire (OR) ISEE test and attach results for us
    • If entering Grades 10 - 12: Take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and attach results for us

    There will be just one testing date in the fall of the current school year. If you miss this date, please see the Aspire Web Site for additional testing locations locally.

  8. $100.00 non-refundable fee - Note: this is not a guarantee of entry.

Once your application is "complete" with all of the above, we will schedule a Shadow Day and Parent & Student Interview.

Applications "complete" and processed when all of the above has been received.

Decision letters will be mailed after interview and shadow day has been completed. After a student has been accepted, an end-of-year transcript from the student's current school should be provided to:
