As we reach mid-July, your Return to School Committee continues to plan, strategize and revise as shifting circumstances arise. Whatever comes next, please know that we have a dedicated group of faculty, staff and Board members who continue to strive on your behalf. Your children’s education and well being are paramount for us and, as a community, we will continue to support and nurture one another.
Following are our weekly announcements for you. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
We are deeply grateful to Megan Brown who has just completed her two-year cycle as Board Chair. Megan has successfully led the Board through many challenges and accomplishments in the last two years and we could not be more thankful. We will always remember her as the Board Chair during our Waldorf 100 celebration year. Megan has agreed to remain on the Board and will help to support the transition for the new Chairperson.
That leads to our very happy welcome to Maureen McDermott who has agreed to take on this role for what will be another memorable year for all of us. Maureen is courageously taking on this two-year leadership role and is inspired by the possibility of crisis creating growth opportunities for us all. Please take a moment to welcome her to this new role. Mmcdermott@waldorfschool.com

While the campus is closed for visitors, the Front Office continues to be staffed in order to meet your urgent needs. If you have something urgent, and need to reach someone right away, please call Douglas Garrett at (714) 746-5033.
All of us at WSOC wish to express our gratitude to Jeff Barth for his years of service as he leaves the position of Finance Director. We wish him all the best. Our thanks to Mimi Sueda, who has agreed to serve as Interim Finance Director.
This week, we began major re-surfacing work for the campus including repair of damaged walkways and re-paving areas in need. (This work is covered by the Newport Mesa Unified School District as a part of our rental credit and does not come out of our operating budget.)
You might see our banners posted around your neighborhood! We have placed WSOC Enrollment Banners in public spaces around Orange County as a reminder to parents that we are continuing to enroll students even in these unusual times. We continue to receive admission inquiries each week and to welcome new applications. 29 new students for the 20-21 school year have been welcomed since April 1st and we anticipate more. Thank you to our current parents who have been extraordinary Admissions Ambassadors for us all. Your efforts bring strength for all of us.
Until next week! Stay safe and healthy!
