About our school
Waldorf School of Orange County (WSOC) is a strong stable school with over 300 students. Over the past 20 years, we have evolved from a single kindergarten to a vibrant school with playgroup, 3- and 5-day kindergarten classes and first through eighth grades. We opened our Waldorf high school in the fall of 2007. WSOC is a full member of AWSNA. The operation of WSOC is guided by the College of Teachers which upholds the spiritual and pedagogical ideals of the school. The faculty includes specialty teachers for Japanese, Spanish, eurythmy, handwork, woodwork, art, games, choir and stringed orchestral instruments.

A dedicated Board of Trustees supports the teachers’ work by ensuring the legal and financial integrity of WSOC. A full-time administrator and staffed positions for development and outreach, registrar, business and admissions put the school administration on solid footing. Our strong, highly motivated parent body is committed not only to supporting the school itself, but to extending the ideas of Waldorf education into the outer community further supporting our mission. The campus includes a hall with an elevated stage that accommodates student performances and guest artists, as well as community events. Parents, teachers and students also enjoy a wonderful, Waldorf-inspired store, The Company of Angels, and a school library maintained by a dynamic group of parent volunteers.

Sunny Southern California Beckons

Our ten-acre school site is located on the bluffs above the Pacific Ocean adjoining a park and nature preserve area. A mild climate year-round with little rain and sunny skies nearly everyday lets us take advantage of our unique environment. Beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, and a vibrant growing community are just a few of the features that make Orange County one of California’s most desirable locations. Costa Mesa is located just one hour south of Los Angeles and ninety minutes north of San Diego.

In addition the area offers excellent employment and professional opportunities for working spouses. The University of California, Irvine and several other universities and colleges are in close proximity. The area is home to world-class theatres, museums, art galleries, and libraries. A multitude of health food stores can be found and biodynamic produce is available. Alternative health care is accessible as well as a variety of anthroposophical study groups that happily welcome new participants.
