Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in the Waldorf School of Orange County. We realize that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a parent makes in shaping a child's life and we are here to assist you in any way we can.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten

For the 2012 - 2013 School Year

The application process for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten begins with a mandatory Early Childhood Orientation Evening - please go to our Events Calendar to see specific dates for these events.

Applications for the fall of 2013 are available at those evenings. Applications may become available again later in the spring if there are any openings after the applications received from those attending these meetings have been considered.

Participation in our Playgroup program is beneficial, but is not a requirement for consideration to Pre-Kindergarten.

1. Complete WSOC application - this is an opportunity for us to learn about you and your child.
2. Submit application to the Director of Admissions along with an Application Fee of $75.00
   • We prefer the application be scanned as one document and sent to ltimmons@waldorfschool.com
   • You may also mail to: 2350 Canyon Dr., Costa Mesa, CA 92627 Attn: Linda Timmons
   • Or hand deliver
3. If a class is full, your application will be placed on file to be contacted when a space becomes available. A new application must be filled out for each academic year.
4. If there is space available in the class, the application will be forwarded to the Early Childhood Faculty for discussion and decision based upon class size and make-up.
5. If agreed, the applicant and parents are invited to a Family Interview with the two class teachers.
6. If it is agreed that it would be beneficial, the student may be invited to visit the class for one or more days.
7. A decision will be sent in writing to the applicant.
8. If an offer has been made, a student may not begin class until Registration has been completed.

Grades 1 - 8

For the 2012 - 2013 School Year

Applications for the grades may be submitted at any time during the year. Students are considered and accepted year round pending space availability.

4. If there is space available in the class, the application(s) will be forwarded to the College of Teachers for discussion and decision. The College of Teachers meets one evening every week. If the agenda allows, an applicant will be considered the week the application is received. If the meeting agenda is full, the application will be considered the following week.
5. If agreed, the applicant and parents are invited to a Family Interview with the class teacher, a second faculty member and the Director of Admissions. An Assessment of the student will be completed at this time by our Resource Teacher, Deborah Waring.
6. If agreed, the student(s) will be invited for a Class Visit – (3 to 5 days).
7. Following the visit, the class teacher, Admissions Director and parents will discuss the result.
8. If an offer has been made, a student may begin class as soon as Registration has been completed.

High School

For the 2012 - 2013 School Year

Applications for the high school may be submitted at any time during the year. Students are considered and accepted year round pending space availability.

1. Complete application by returning Parent and Student Questionnaires
2. Student - complete and return Self-Portrait
3. Distribute Teacher Evaluation and Transcript Release Forms to your current school. These forms will be returned directly to Waldorf School of Orange County
4. Schedule and take Explore test or ISEE
   For date(s) of Explore testing at WSOC, contact WSOC High School Coordinator

5. Return application with an Application Fee of $75.00 Checks should be made out to Waldorf School of Orange County
6. We will schedule a shadow day
7. We will schedule parent and student interview

Decision letters will be mailed after interview and shadow day has been completed. After a student has been accepted, an end-of-year transcript from the student's current school should be provided to:
